Commissioned into the Indian Army in 1983, Lt. Gen. "Tiny" Dhillon served for nearly four decades across combat zones and senior command and administrative appointments — completing eight tenures in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, six of them in the Kashmir Valley.

- Director General, Defence Intelligence Agency under the Chief of Defence Staff, until superannuation in January 2022
